Kyle - Complex Origami Puppets

Kyle's project was to make a highly complex puppet out of a sheet of paper and wood. The puppet body is folded out of a single sheet of paper, and the it is controlled by a series of wooden mechanisms that utilize levers and axles in order to move the limbs of the puppet. The model is based off of a common figure in japanese culture, Raijin the god of thunder. Raijin originates from Shinto, the traditional religion of Japan, and is often rendered as looking demon like. Raijin is often portrayed in red, and was considered very important due to the high influence the weather had on Japan as an island.
