Vitamins and Minerals!

Hello, Dublin,

Offerings this week included: mindfulness Tuesday morning and slow and simple yoga on Thursday evening.

The DubWell Tip of the Week is the beginning of a nutritional series focusing on vitamins and minerals. The tips will focus on what the benefits of the vitamins and minerals are and what food sources provide them, but will not include recommendations for how much of each you should consume as that is a decision to be made with your caregivers and healthcare providers based on personal needs.

First up, vitamin A! According to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, vitamin A supports eye health, stimulates the production of white blood cells that play an important role in resisting illness, plays a role in remodeling bone, and helps maintain and regulate cell growth and division throughout the body.

Some good sources of vitamin A are:

  • Leafy green vegetables (kale, spinach, broccoli), orange and yellow vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and other winter squash, summer squash)
  • Tomatoes
  • Red bell pepper
  • Cantaloupe, mango
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Fortified foods (bread, eggs, yogurt, etc.)

Be Well,

Ms. Davis
