A First-Timer’s Guide to Winterfest at Dublin
You’ve seen the registration form, you’ve watched the video, you hear your student talking about it…but what is Winterfest? If you’re a first time Dublin parent/caregiver or if you’ve forgotten about the fun that is Winterfest, this is for you.
Winterfest is a cherished tradition at Dublin School that unites the entire community through intense “friendly” competitions that include outrageous costumes (students and faculty are drafted into different teams and are given a color for their team), hysterical lip syncs and signature outdoor games like maple syrup curling, human dog sled races on the quad and nerf gun biathlons! Winters in New England can be a little tough for young people and this tradition allows us to let our hair down and have a little fun with one another.
Friday, February 14th is the start of Winterfest with everyone invited to campus in the afternoon. After dinner, we will host an Adults Only party in the Outing Club. If you’ve never spent time in the Outing Club, you’re in for a treat. At the base of the Norm Wight ski hill, the Outing Club is Dublin School’s portal to the outdoors. We will have beverages, a cozy fire, and a few sweet treats. You are welcome to see the Lip Sync in person in the recital hall at 8pm.
Saturday will start early with an 8:30 breakfast, followed by a parent volunteer meeting in the Schoolhouse. The whole community will gather on the Gillespie porch for a Pep Rally and then the games begin! Each color team will rotate through the different game stations trying to win as many points as possible to be crowned Winterfest Champion!
After the winning team is announced, stay on campus to cheer on our Boys and Girls Basketball teams in the Whitney Gymnasium. Students are expected to return to campus on Wednesday, February 19th with classes resuming on Thursday, February 20th.
You can find a full schedule of events and registration form on the Winterfest 2025 page, here.
