Now Open: Cafe Patagonia!

The Spanish Department has taken over the cafe space in lower Lehmann, and this past week announced the opening Cafe Patagonia, a dedicated Spanish language space aimed at encouraging students to incorporate their language skills into daily life.

Cafe Patagonia is the latest venture by a department whose approach to pedagogy is completely unconventional. As Associate Head of School for Academics Sarah Doenmez surmised "there is no school on the planet that teaches Spanish the way we teach Spanish. Puppet shows? Karaoke? Just Dance? Virtual Reality? The proof is in the pudding. The kids love it. And everybody wants to take advanced classes even though they don't need to for graduation or college admissions."

Students and faculty showed up to the official launch party in droves this past Thursday. Nico Ortiz had twenty-founds of sirloin going on the grill, parents generously contributed fruit and baked goods, and the space was totally transformed.
