Mr. Brown Weighs In Ahead of President's Day

Dublin School’s very own Lindsay Brown (History) has the honor of heading up the February edition of the Dublin Advocate, a monthly newsletter on happenings in the town of Dublin. His piece “Presidents Day 2025” offers a thoughtful reading of George Washington’s 1796 Farewell Address and sensitive treatment of the ever-present dangers of factionalism ahead of February's third Monday, when as a nation we celebrate President’s Day.

He concludes with a poignant summons to set aside sectarian interests, writing “The great presidents whom we celebrate on the third Monday of February call on us to build a nation together, to accept our differences, to work for unity, and to strive for the highest ideals that are at the foundation of the United States.”
