We’re in the thick of enrollment season here at Dublin School. Over the previous weeks, Jackie and Co. over in the Enrollment Office have welcomed an unprecedented number of prospective students and their families to campus. The enrollment team is typically gushing with enthusiasm after these visits, sometimes even popping up to Brad’s office to share about a visit that went especially well.
Your very own Beatrice while touring Dublin is a current student, what we call Student Ambassadors. They’ll typically preview the day’s tours during Morning Meeting by introducing us to prospective students and always with the reminder: “if you see us, say hello,” a line that has become a favorite Dublin refrain of mine since beginning here this fall.
Amidst this busy schedule of visits, our Ambassadors deserve a shoutout for taking time out of their schedules, also busy, to guide visiting families during their campus tours. Many kudos to the thirty-two Student Ambassadors who have helped us through our busiest ever visit season.
Head of Enrollment Jackie Kenney spoke to how critically important these Ambassadors are to the enrollment process, acting not only as tour guides, but also as a personal touchpoint throughout the enrollment process. Even after families leave campus, Student Ambassadors continue to be resources and touch points, writing to follow up and maintain connection with prospective students and their families.
“Of course we have a beautiful campus, and it’s important to show that off in an accurate and truthful way, but the connection that Student Ambassadors have with families while touring is really what makes the campus visit a meaningful experience.”
Student Ambassadors are bona fide members of Dublin’s enrollment team. The connections they build and input they provide to the Enrollment Office helps to shape incoming classes, one way in which Dublin students are empowered to take ownership of their school.
Campus visits are required as part of the admissions process. And while virtual visits are possible, we really encourage prospective students to make the trip to campus whenever realistic. We do this for a number of reasons. Peeking behind the enrollment curtain, we’ve found that campus visits are the most efficacious way to drive enrollment, and we’re in the business of filling our classrooms. That said, we also believe that campus visits provide prospective students with a genuine feel for what it might be like to attend Dublin. While here, they have the opportunity to attend Morning Meeting, a cornerstone of the Dublin experience, interact with current students, attend classes in areas of interest, and spend time with the enrollment team. While this gives us an opportunity to get to know prospective students, visits provide prospective students with the opportunity to get to know this place.
