The Dublin School Girls’ Alpine Ski Team earned the 2023 New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class C Championship held at Crotched Mountain Resort in February. The team was led by local talents Ava Rondeau ‘24 (Sharon, NH) Campbell Meyer ‘24 (Francestown, NH) and Anya Merriman-Mix ‘23 (Amherst, NH) all competing on their home course. The field was composed of other similar sized schools from Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire with a total of 14 teams and 70 racers. Under the instruction of legendary coach Sandy Eneguess and longtime Racing Instructor Wendy Thorpe, Dublin School produced impressive finishes in both the Slalom and Giant Slalom events, thus earning First Place overall.
With her combined time of 1.12.29 in the Slalom, Rondeau captured 2nd place having been edged out by just half a second. Meyer finished 4th and Merriman-Mix placed 15th to propel Dublin School to 1st overall in the event. Rondeau was the fastest racer in the Giant Slalom with a combined time of 1.14.31, a whopping 1.5 seconds better than the closest competitor. Meyer captured 6th place and along with Auggie Gribbel’s ‘26 (Boston, MA) 17th place finish they helped Dublin School take 2nd overall in the GS.
Rondeau and Meyer also compete in US Ski and Snowboard Association Eastern events with Rondeau following her NEPSAC finishes with podiums at Kenney Memorial and Mittersill Mountain. More of this kind of success is expected from both racers as their season continues into early April.
