Climate Change Class Saw-Whet Owl Banding Field Trip

This week the climate change class got to observe a saw-whet owl banding at the Harris Center in Hancock. They caught an owl, put a band on its leg, weighed it, aged it based on its feather color and then released it back. Saw-whet owls are considered a “climate endangered species” as 99% of their wintering habitat is predicted to be lost by 2080.
