SENE Championship

Win 12-4

The Dublin School Girls' Lacrosse team captured their first ever SENE Championship with a decisive 12-4 win over St. Andrews (RI).   The game was played at a neutral site, the MacDuffie School in Granby, MA.

The two teams met previously this season in a Home and Home series.  St. Andrews won both matches 9-8, 11-9 respectively, however Dublin came into the Championship game ready for retribution.  St. Andrews was the first on the scoreboard, jumping out to a 1-0 lead, but Dublin answered with intentional and patient offensive possession building a 4-1 lead.  St. Andrews, with their own visions of being crowned champions, cut the lead to 4-3 heading into the halftime break.

It seemed that St. Andrews could take the advantage as they came out quickly in the second stanza to tie the game at 4.  However, that would prove to be their last score of the game as Dublin put on a dominating performance to secure the victory.  Winning each draw as they went, the Wildcats meticulously and methodically built an offense that could not be answered.  Any attempts by the opponents to infiltrate towards the Dublin goal was thwarted by persistent pressure in the midfield and tenacious defense.  Dublin went on an 8-0 run over 20+ minutes to defeat their foes and earn the title as SENE Champions.

The Wildcats were led offensively by Senior Erika Fantauzzi with 5 tallies.  Fantauzzi ends the season with an impressive 48 goals.  Senior Abbie Switzer and Sophomore Holland Calcutt each scored 3 while Junior Campbell Meyer dropped in one as the icing to her impressive control of the draws throughout the game.  The Defense was led by Juniors Madi Lefebvre, Mekoya Sandback, and Zoe Ortiz each making fantastic stands to repel St. Andrew's attempts to score.  Sophomore Goaltender Adelaide DeForest made 5 terrific saves in the win.

Senior Captains Fantauzzi, Switzer, Sophie Mascielo, and Kiara Robles will be missed.  Their leadership, skill, and performance have been inspirational throughout their careers at Dublin School.
