Kiana Frederick spends every weekend building her own skis with trustee Bill Barker. She works from 9am through noon and then 1pm through 4pm on Saturdays and from 10am through noon and then 1pm through 4pm on Sundays. Spending five to six hours each weekend day is worth it to Kiana because, in her words, the project was not only “fun” but it “pushes [her] in a creative way that allows [her] the opportunity to use many different tools [she] has never used before.”
Jared Lewis, Sean Brown, John Scriven, and Silas Howe are also constructing their own skis. After Kiana heard Jared’s Morning Meeting announcement about the club, Kiana attended to learn more.
Kiana elaborates, saying, “I decided to start this project because it sounded like something that would challenge me and seemed like an experience I would never forget in my Dublin history.”
“Once I started, I knew that this was something I would want to carry on,” she says. “Overall, the experience of this has been outstanding. Although I’m not finished with my skis yet, I’m already super proud of the work thus far.”
