After finishing my studies at Concordia, I returned back to the beautiful Monadnock Region, where I grew up. That's right, I'm local. I spent a year working as a music director and substitute teacher at my Alma Mater, Keene High School. I was first introduced to Dublin School in Fall 2013/Winter 2014 as the accompanist for their production of "Little Shop of Horrors." One thing led to another, and here I am: Dublin's new Music Program Director. I am extremely excited to start my teaching career in such a great place like Dublin School – so close to home too!
This year, I am teaching Piano Studies and Literature, Vocal Studies and Literature, Introduction to Music, Advanced Music Theory, Jazz Ensemble, and Glee Club. In addition to my duties at the school, I am the music director at the First Congregational Church and Society of Rindge and a member of the Keene Lions Club.
What book has made you think the most?: The Stranger (L'Étranger) by Albert Camus
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?: Does James Bond count as a superhero? If so, my superpowers will be super coolness, endless Aston Martins, and tuxedos of steel!
If your life had a theme song, what would it be?: "Shine On" by The Kooks. No matter what mood I'm in, this song puts a smile on my face.
What teacher has had the most impact on you? How were they special?: Three teachers have had a huge impact on me and my desire to teach. My seventh grade English Teacher, John McMahon, taught me how fun learning can be. By his style of teaching, his passion, and his relationship with his students, my high school choir teacher, Tom Martin, taught me why music matters and affirmed my dreams of being a teacher. My linguistics professor and supervisor for my senior thesis in French linguistics at university, Davy Bigot, taught me to dig deep to find true answers to one's questions and that one's learning never ends.
How would your friends describe you in 3 words?: Passionate, kind, and loyal.
You are hosting a dinner party and must invite 3 famous people. Who would you choose and why?: I am a someone who loves to laugh. So I would have to invite three highly entertaining people: Jeremy Clarkson, Melissa McCarthy, and the late, great Robin Williams. Jeremy Clarkson is one of the hosts for the British motoring show, Top Gear. He has a quintessential British sense of humour and a straight shooter. My kind of guy. Melissa McCarthy has to be one of the funniest women in Hollywood right now. Every time I see her on the screen, I am in stitches. For Robin Williams, do I need to explain? Such an inspirational, kind, touching, and hilarious personality.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?: I would love to have Liam Neeson play me in a movie. However my students might say a better fit would be Josh Peck from "Drake and Josh."
