Putnam Gallery at Dublin School Presents Jeff Badger

"Perfect Lawn Forever" is the title of a unique art installation by conceptual cartoon artist, Jeff Badger, which opens January 10 at the Putnam Gallery at Dublin School. Mr. Badger is a multimedia artist based in South Portland, Maine. He has exhibited his work nationally and internationally in solo and group exhibitions, performs original music and curates exhibitions with the Tetra Project. He is Chair of the Department of Fine Arts at Southern Maine Community College and was recently nominated for the Best Visual Artist in the Phoenix "Best of 2013" competition. He also received a Ping Faculty Development Fellowship to attend the "Contemporary Art World in Context" seminar in Guanajuato, Mexico. Mr. Badger just concluded a performance at the Portland Museum of Art, entitled "Drawn and Cornered."
He holds a B.S. in Studio Art and English from Skidmore College and a M.F.A. from the Art Institute of Boston at Leslie College. His work has been shown at the Belarus Artplatz in Minsk; Rose Contemporary in Portland, Maine.; Embajadores Con Provisiones in Madrid, Spain; Mytilene Municipal Art Gallery in Mytilene, Greece; and Qasam Sabti Gallery, Bagdad, Iraq.
Critic Sarah Bouchard of "The Bollard," says of Mr. Badger's work, "He uses the residue of human innovation to explore the intersection of technology and nature, and does so in a way that encourages the viewer to ingest and reflect." Taryn Plumb in "Artscope Magazine" says, "Creating bold juxtaposition, the 35 year old artist wraps existential themes, new perspectives on history and statements on invasive 21st Century life within vibrant, cartoonish images and installations."
"Perfect Lawn Forever" will open with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on January 10 in the Putnam Gallery in Gillespie Hall on the Dublin School campus, and the show will run until March 6. The public is welcome.
