For new students, the sight of Mr. Bates walking into Monday’s morning meeting bedecked in a toga and holding aloft a torch of colored construction paper may have been somewhat disconcerting. However, returning students immediately grasped the meaning of this spectacle: Dorm Olympics!
Throughout the week, each dorm (and the day students) competed in various games in morning meeting and after classes. These competitions have included classics such as tug-of-war, as well as less traditional feats such as stacking golf balls (above right) and performing “odes” to the dorms. The games, which wrap up this afternoon, have brought energetic competition and excitement to our last days before Christmas break!
