On Thursday afternoon, our Family Weekend kicked off as families began to arrive on campus for parent- teacher conferences. On Friday, after more conferences, the families were treated to dinner and the musical and dance performances in the new FAB.
On Saturday, parents and siblings started off their day like true Dubliners: with morning meeting! There, they heard about the philosophy of the School from both Head of School Mr. Bates and Dean of Academics Mrs. Doenmez. Chet Gibson (parent ’12) also spoke, discussing the importance of giving to the Annual Fund. Additionally, Academic Enhancement Grants were presented during this morning meeting, going to a number of teachers to help them strengthen their classes with various forms of technology and other classroom items.
After morning meeting, the families attended “mini-classes,”which were fifteen minute, abbreviated versions of their students’ courses. This gave the families the opportunity to both gain a more precise and personal sense of the academics at Dublin and to get to know each other, as well, as they analyzed poems, performed chemistry experiments, and solved math problems together. On Saturday afternoon, after lunch, families attended Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer matches, held on the Upper Field, before heading home for a few days of rest. It was a wonderful weekend, and we at Dublin are all so pleased to have had this time to strengthen our relationships with the families of our students.
