The Dublin School Contemporary Dance Program offers training centered in classical modern and ballet techniques with exposure to other popular styles and cross-training techniques, including hip hop, jazz, tap and social and world dance forms. Mastery of the craft of dancing is achieved through deeply physical work. Dancers will engage in the joy of this work and develop an awareness of how to use movement as a means of communication.
Dance is offered in the fall as an athletics option and is open to all students irrespective of experience. During the fall, students will be selected to become members of the Dublin Dance Ensemble, a group that will run throughout the year. Dancers in the Dance Ensemble participate in specially scheduled evening and weekend classes and rehearsals that run throughout the academic year. This provides more serious dancers the opportunity to train year-round, while still having the opportunity to participate in other sports and activities.
