The Mountain Bike Team was at Vermont Academy last Wednesday for the first race of the Western Division series. Oren Robblee was our top rider of the day with a 10th place finish in the A class race. With our only B rider out of the race for an injury sustained in the season opener, it was up to the C racers to carry the load. They did a remarkable job, with Spencer Paterniti placing 8th overall, Kamp Wagenbaugh finished 19th, James Bostrup finished 24th, and Imogen VonMertens finished 6th in the Girls C race. This week, we'll be travelling to Woodstock, VT.
Dublin's Mt. Bike team traveled to Proctor Academy for the opening race of the Northern New England High School Mountain Bike Racing Series. With 24 schools represented, along with numerous club teams, the day saw over 300 riders overtake the Proctor course. The dry course, along with a windy day, kicked up a whirlwind of dust and when it had settled, the top Dublin racers were Oren Roblee (22nd A Class), Oliver Tulio (47th B Class), Imogen VonMertens (4th C Class), Kemp Wagenbach (15th C Class), and Spencer Paterniti (32nd C Class). It was the first race for many of our riders, but now seasoned veterans, the team travels to Vermont Academy for the first Western Division Race this Wednesday.
Not since the series opener have all 24 teams raced at the same time, and with nearly 400 riders, it was quite an event!
It was a wet and technically challenging course, but despite the conditions, our racers came through with an awesome performance. Abby Ingram, racing in her last race as a Dublin student, had the best race of her career and finished first in the girls B class race, putting her as one of the top girl riders in the series. AJ Lee and Oren Robblee had top 20 finishes in the boys A race, finishing 15th and 18th respectively. Oren ended the season with top freshman honors in the Western Division. Imogen VonMertens earned a podium finish placing 3rd in the girls C race
Dublin finished 6th in the championship and ended the season with a 4th place overall in the Western Division.
It was a great end to a great season, and we thank our senior leaders and captains, AJ Lee, Abbby Ingram and Pete Spang, for all the work they put into helping make the season what it was.
A small squad of mountain bikers came back early from break and raced at Ascutney in a race hosted by Vermont Academy last Wednesday. It was a cold rainy day, but despite the weather, Oren Robblee outsprinted another rider in the final 100 yards to finish 6th in the Boys A race.

The mountain biking team traveled to Cardigan Mountain for the first Western Division race of the series. It was a technical course made harder by rain and mud, and it left a few broken bikes in it's wake. Despite the tricky conditions, Abby Ingram placed 3rd in the B race and AJ Lee managed to place 6th in the A race after two crashes dropped him a few places.
