Boys soccer challenged Four Rivers for the first 30 minutes in a scrappy first half. Trailing 1-0, the Wildcats tested the Four River's defense before a counter-attack goal and penalty kick pushed the visitors to a comfortable 3-0 lead at the half. The young Wildcats conceded three more second-half goals to the veteran Four Rivers squad to make the final score 6-0. Boys soccer travels to High Mowing Wednesday for their next contest. Play begins at 2:30pm.
Boys soccer opened the season with an offensive flurry scoring five goals against Charlemont. Three freshmen (Will Armstrong (1), Salah Maalim (2), Henry Underwood (1)) scored first career goals for the Wildcats with sophomore midfielder Lawrence Chen also tallying his first goal of the year. Charlemont countered with eight goals against a young and developing Dublin defense to secure a 8-5 victory. Boys soccer competes at home against Four Rivers on Friday - 4pm kick-off.
Boys soccer played their last game of the season against Putney School on Saturday. Attempting to avenge an earlier 3-1 loss to Putney, Senior striker Fab Joseph (Easton, PA) and goaltender Josh Hochberg (Teaneck, NJ) put on a show in their last game wearing Dublin blue. Joseph broke through a physical Putney defense and drilled a shot into the net. Will Boot (Larchmont, NY) then converted on a penalty kick before Joseph converted twice more on great individual efforts. A potential fourth goal from Joseph hit the crossbar on the underside but somehow stayed out.
The Dublin boys traveled to the White Mountain School on Wednesday. Both teams started strong as Dublin started to turn up the heat. Fabryce Joseph, Will Boot, and Lawrence Chen had great chemistry as the continually brought the ball onto White Mountain's side. In the first half, Lawrence got two goals as a result of some beautiful footwork from Fab and Will. Josh Hochberg kept White Mountain from scoring during the first half with six saves.
White Mountain got a goal early in the second half but the boys didn't back down. Josh made five more saves in the second half and Fab got a goal to bring the score to 3-1 Dublin. Overall the boys had a great game and were happy to ring the bell once they got back to campus.
Boys travelled to Academy at Charlemont as the fifth seed in the first round of the RVAL tournament. The torrential rain made both the field and the soccer balls super slippery. The boys started the game determined to put up a fight. During the first half, Charlemont was up 2-0, but Dublin got one in off of a corner kick from Will Boot (Larchmont, NY). At halftime, the boys got together and were energized to at least tie up the match. During the second half, Joshua Hochberg (Teaneck, NJ) made six saves while Fab Joseph (Easton, PA) got a goal to tie up the match. Lawrence Chen (Beijing, China) seemed to win the game when his shot beat the goalie but deflected off the post and stayed out.
Since this match is part of a tournament they had to go to a sudden death overtime with the next goal deciding the game. WIth the slippery conditions, Josh wasn't able to make the save when Charlemont made a shot on their third try. Overall, the Dublin Boy's did a great job and fought hard for a win, but weren't able to make the dream a reality.
The Boys soccer team played Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School on Saturday. The boys started the first half strong with Exavion Clerveau getting an early goal. Josh Hochberg Dublin's goalie was back in net after injuring his hand in a game last week. Dublin's defense was doing a great job as Josh only had to make two saves in the first half. Later in the half Fabryce Joseph got a goal to bring the score to 2-0 Dublin at halftime.
On Saturday the Dublin boy's soccer team played BART. The first half was hard fought between both teams. Will Boot was able to score with an assist from Fabryce Joseph. Eric Gu followed this with his first Dublin goal as a freshman. Lawrence Chen was in goal and kept all three of BART's shots out of the net. During halftime, the Dublin boys regrouped for a strong second half. Early in the second half Fab score a goal in the top right corner. Soon after Issac Callaghan got his second goal of the season bringing the score to 4-0. Near the end of the half, David Pan got a goal along with Will Boot. 6-0 Dublin final.
