The 2018-19 Dublin Boys Basketball Season got underway over the weekend, as High Mowing came to The Dublin School for an early season matchup.
Dublin and High Mowing went back and forth over the first 8 minutes of the half, trading both baskets and the lead several times. About half way through the first half, the score was knotted up at ten a piece. Over the remainder of the first half freshman Salah Maalim of Boston, Massachusetts started to catch fire and finished the half with twelve points on 6 of 8 shooting from the field. Sparked by some hot shooting, and their team defense, Dublin was able to finish the half on a 17-3 run building their largest lead of the game 27-13 going into halftime.
The second half started off with High Mowing knocking down three of their first four shot attempts from beyond the arc forcing Dublin into an early timeout. High Mowing's Wilde Tidblom (9 points 10 rebs) and David Jiao (6pts on 2/2 from 3) both came out of the half strong and pulled their team within just 4 points. After a few strong words in the team huddle from Senior Captain Kyle Mincey of Jersey City, New Jersey (13 points 5 asts 5 rebs 5 steals) Dublin would close the game on a 15-6 run and secure the WildCats their first win of the 2018 season.
