Dublin School Cross Country traveled to Adams, MA for our first race of the season, hosted by BART. In a particularly grueling and at times treacherous race, Dublin runners displayed great mental and physical toughness along the infamous slopes of Mt. Greylock.
The girls' team finished third in a field of six, with impressive races by Lilly Bates (1st) and Aggie Macy (2nd). Lucia Xia finished a personal best (15th), followed closely by newcomers Hannah Spindler (17th) and Camille Pollak (19th). A special shout out goes to Isolina Miller, who despite nursing an injury and thus not racing herself, played a critical role in supporting and tending to two of her teammates who were injured out on the course.
The Dublin boys' team finished second out of six, placing behind only to the home team, BART. Ian Baker led Dublin's top runners with a personal best (3rd), followed closely by Quinn Wilson (5th). Max Johnson (10th), Kyle Mincey (13th) and James Wolpe (14th) also had strong races, rounding out the top five.
With the hardest course of the season out of the way, Dublin XC looks to use this race as the foundation for continued improvement. With so many young and new runners, there is great potential for the rest of the season.
