The boys’ soccer team played its first game of the season on Wednesday against Charlemont. Both teams started out strong with Charlemont getting a goal early in the first half. Dublin responded with four narrowly blocked shots on goal by William Boot (Larchmont, NY) (2) and Fabryce Joseph (Easton, PA) (2). Timothy Stone (Concord, MA) made some great passes that lead to these shots. Near the end of the first half, Charlemont scored to go up 2-0. Dublin scored right back and seemed to start to gain the momentum. Will Boot scored the goal with an assist from Eric Gu (Hangzhou, China) which was Eric’s first Dublin point. Late in the first half, Dublin applied the pressure with three shots on goal.
During halftime the boys regrouped and went into the second half strong. In the first part of the second half, Dublin had three shots on goal from Will Boot (2) and Fabryce Joseph (1). Throughout the second half, Haofeng "Lawrence" Chen (Beijing, China) made great plays to get the ball back into Charlemont’s zone. Near the midpoint of the second half, Jaydon Belliveau-Ryan (Peterborough, NH) made a beautiful throw-in to Fabryce that lead to Dublin’s second goal. Four minutes later Jacob Horowitz (Bethesda, MD) threw to ball in to Will Boot for the third goal giving Dublin the lead. The boys continued to apply pressure making two shots (Will Boot, Fabryce Joseph) on goal and a earning a penalty kick (Fabryce Joseph). The Charlemont goalie made a save on the PK which seemed to pick them up. Charlemont charged back to score their third goal tying up the match. The boys kept pushing until the end of the game but weren’t able to score again leaving the match in a 3-3 tie.
Overall the boys had a great first game of the season and should be proud of their hard work.
