Girls took on the varsity team from Proctor Academy in the Lakes Region Championships. In scorching 90 degree heat on turf, we faced a tough task going up against a deeper and talented Proctor squad. A lack of defensive intensity and some unlucky bounces allowed Proctor to jump out to an early 7-1 lead. After calling a timeout, we started to play better and managed to match Proctor through the remainder of the half although still facing a 10-4 halftime deficit.
A slight adjustment in technique by goalie Amani Natson (Hillside, NJ) and moving some players around led to a significant Dublin run. Natson played an outstanding second half. We scored the next four goals to close to a 10-8 score. However, that was as close as we could get as fatigue set in and Proctor controlled the ball for large parts of the remaining playing time.
Coaches were very proud of the effort made by our team in adverse circumstances. Great team and individual growth was exhibited by the Dublin girls team throughout the season. We look to further growth from newcomers Aggie Macy (Dublin, NH); Caitlin Hegarty (Durham, NH); Celeste Hopson (Newark, NJ); Robyn McIntosh (Chelsea, Quebec) and Gabriela Quintero (Union , NJ).
Scoring for Dublin: Bette Imhoff (Dublin, NH) 5G; Stella Davis (Dublin, NH) 2G, 1A; Adunni Abrams (Brooklyn, NY) 1G; Sabrina Hayden (Marlborough, NH) 1A; and Aggie Macy (Dublin, NH) 1A. Amani Natson with 16 saves including a number from point blank range in the second half.
