Ultimate Frisbee at RVAL Tournament - May 10, 2017

After a strong regular season, Dublin came into the tournament as the 2nd seed. In the first round they closed out Charlemont's JV squad in an uncontested match. They next saw Four Rivers Girls Varsity, one of the most skilled teams at the tournament. After building a 6-3 lead, Dublin started to struggle against Four Rivers's stingy zone defense. As time cap loomed, the game grew tighter, and eventually was tied 7-7. The final point featured incredible throws, athletic plays, miscues, and heroic efforts by players on each team, but Four Rivers came away with an 8-7 victory.

Stunned, Dublin then had to quickly reset for a consolation game against Buxton. They were able to win handily and give some players time to rest. In the final round, Dublin played Four Rivers Boys JV. The game was tight throughout, and each team felt the effects of a long day of ultimate. It was a competitive game, and eventually Four Rivers won 10-8.

Dublin officially finished 6th at the tournament with a 2-2 record, the best finish in the program's short history. The day was a valuable learning experience, as Dublin had not been exposed to such highly skilled teams this season. Next year, DUT will come back to the tournament more motivated than ever.
