Missing several seniors on college trips, Dublin girls played local rival Winchendon School on Friday afternoon in a near constant 45 degree drizzle. Dublin started fast scoring less than 20 seconds into the game and was up 2-0 early. Some sloppy early defense led to an attacker running free down the field with only the goalie to beat for a 2-1 tally. A couple of other miscues kept Winchendon School in the game as goalie Amani Natson (Hillside, NJ) had to make a series of saves to keep Winchendon from doing further damage. Wet stick syndrome set in as our passing was not crisp for about a five minute stanza. Finally the offense got on track, scoring five straight goals to close out the half.
With a significant halftime lead and another game to be played in less than 24 hours by a short team, a number of newer players saw extended playing time in the second half. Emma Williams (Concord, NH) scored her first two goal game of her young career. Dublin scoring: Bette Imhoff (Dublin, NH) 6G, 2A; Stella Davis (Dublin, NH) 2G, 1A; Emma Williams (Concord, NH) 2G, and Adunni Abrams (Brooklyn, NY) 1G. Goalies Amani Natson (Hillside, NJ) and Caitlin Hegarty (Durham, NH) split time and made 5/4 saves respectively.
