Today we woke up with a lot of energy and very eager to learn about Peru.
We had an Incredible breakfast at the hotel and after that, we did a food tour at a local market and learn about other types of vegetables and fruits that we didn't even know exist, And try them all.
Following our tasting of new fruits, we visited Chef Luciano who prepared some delicious Ceviche. And we all loved it. In the afternoon, we had lunch in Francesco Restaurant where we had the opportunity to cook our own Ceviche and Causa with what we bought at the local market and with the guidance of chef Jair.
Our city tour of Lima was the highlight of our day. In the Convento de San Francisco, we saw the catacombs which were the final resting place for more than 20,000 people. In the same convent, we saw the remains of religious paintings and libraries. We ended our day in the Plaza De Armas where the tourist atmosphere was a sharp contrast to the impoverished villages in the mountain across the river.
We have had an amazing day so far and To end our first night, we returned
to Miraflores for our final meal of the day. Our meals included yucca frita, tequenos de queso, Peruvian chaufa, and picarones for desert! We shared our favorite moments from the day, and spoke about our excitement for the rest of the trip.
Tomorrow we will spend the morning in Lima and then board our plane to
Cusco, the ancient Inca capital in the Andes. We look forward to exploring Cusco tomorrow! Our trip has been filled with rich flavors, learning, and lively conversation so far, and we can't wait for the rest.
