Yesterday was a fun day at the Nordic Center. Mr. Nemitz went for a three hour ski with our students who are heading up to Canada for the 100 mile Canadian Ski Marathon next week. Northfield Mount Herman and Belmont Hill School (my alma mater) traveled north to practice on our trails. And I took our twenty five remaining skiers on a fun off piste tour of the hiking and biking trails on Beech Hill. I wanted to introduce them to the old school, purist form of Nordic skiing before there were snowcats and snowmobile groomed trails. A number of students said it was their favorite practice of the year. Some did not even realize you can just go ski off into the woods! Here are some photos from our tour, including our successful summit attempt on Beech Hill!
