The Dublin girls' Varsity basketball team hosted Hyde School (CT) on Wednesday. In their fourth game in six days and working with a short bench, the Dublin girls looked to captains Sabrina Hayden '17 and Stella Davis '18 to lead them and keep up their energy. Dublin jumped out early with a 14 - 0 lead. Hyde struggled against Dublin's man press. The girls settled into their zone defense and continued to keep the pressure on Hyde only allowing them 12 points in the first half. Dublin dominated the offensive and defensive boards and ended the game with three players in double digits: Davis (23 points), Hayden (12 points) and Seo In Cho (11 points). Forwards Shaneil Wynter '17, Katia Dermott '17, and Clare Fowler controlled the paint, effectively shutting down Hyde's inside game. The return of defensive specialist, Tatiyana Dunkers '19, made it easier for Dublin to put pressure on Hyde's outside passing game as well, resulting in a couple of steals and easy layups.
With this win, the Dublin girls have improved their record to 6-5 as they go into the break, and they look forward to their match up against Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School on February 10.
