Worcester Academy and the Bancroft School served as hosts for the Class C NEPSAC Championships. The Championships were held at the Wachusett Mountain Ski Area in Princeton, MA. Fourteen school competed including Bancroft School, Bradford Christian, Cushing Academy, Ethel Walker, Forman School, Governors Academy, The Kildonan School, The Marvelwood School, New Hampton, Pingree School, Worcester Academy, Wilbraham & Monson Academy, and Vermont Academy.
Ethel Walker School was the overall team winner for the girls and Governors Academy was the team winner was for the boys.
The championships included both Slalom and Giant Slalom races. Dublin athletes achieved several top finishes. All athletes finishing in the top ten received medals and three Dublin skiers finished in the top ten.
Dublin freshman Mya Kerwin (Hancock, NH) won first place in the girls Slalom and placed tenth in GS. Caitlin Hegarty (Durham, NH) finished 19th/21st in SL/GS and Laura Coffin (Keene, NH) finished 23rd/2oth in SL/GS.
On the boys side, Silas Howe (Amherst, NH) ’18 finished in 5th place in the GS race and Sean Brown (Hampton Falls, NH) ’18 finished in 10th place in the Slalom race and 15th in the GS race. Nick Runyon (Peterborough, NH) finished 17th/29th in SL/GS; Will Boot (Larchmont, NY) finished 24th/40th in SL/GS; and Reed Brencher (Killingworth, CT) finished 20th in GS.
There was some very consistent skiing among all the athletes from Dublin and the team was all smiles at the awards ceremony when Mya received her gold.
Dublin athletes are looking forward to a full roster at the NEPSAC final Giant Slalom race at Gunstock February 22.
