Dublin hosted skiers from 10 different schools on January 25th at the Dublin School Nordic Center for a classic style race. A packed base was surprisingly fast and made for some adventuresome racing in the downhill sections of the course.
In the girls race, nine seconds separated the top three skiers, with Sophomore Lilly Bates (Dublin, NH) taking bronze. Dublin placed three skiers in the top 10 with Bates, Aggie Macy 5th (Dublin, NH) and Robyn McIntosh 8th (Chelsea, Quebec). Holderness matched Dublin by placing three in the top 10 as well, making the team race a two team event with Dublin holding a 1 point lead. Skiing a great race, Sophomore Sita Moses (Dublin, NH) closed out the scoring for Dublin but could not hold off the more experienced racers from Holderness. Moses was followed closely by Olivia O'Rourke (Peterborough, NH); Diamond Miller (Parsippany, NJ); Antonia Bean (Montpelier, VT); and Brianna Moore (Irvington, NJ).
As has been the case this winter, the boys once again dominated, placing all four of its scoring racers in the top 10. With a total score of 20, the boys had a 31 point margin over runner-up Northfield Mount Hermon. Seniors Calvin Bates 1st (Dublin, NH) and GH Werowinski 2nd (Acton, MA) again finished at the top of the race. Freshman Quinn Wilson 7th (Dublin, NH) and Senior Ryan Hyde 10th (Hollis, NH) closed out the scoring. Seniors Jared Lewis (Bennington, NH); Mark Franklin (Keene, NH); Ben Simon (New York, NY); and John Sandstedt (West Newton, MA) all finished significantly above their seeding. Newer skiers Riley Hodson (Guilford, CT); Grady Allen (Shepherdstown, WV); and Ethan Stanhope (Nassau, Bahamas) ran great races on the tough Dublin course.
