Girls took on Putney School this afternoon. Dublin girls were in our Friday afternoon funk early. Dropping balls, missing passes and repeatedly hitting the Putney goalie, the game was a close affair for the first ten minutes. Number 13 from Putney was impressive, making a couple of good individual rushes to score. At about the ten minute mark, the score was tied 2-2. The final 15 minutes of the half was all Dublin as we finally started to connect on passes resulting in numerous fast breaks and the ability to run our offense efficiently. The half ended at 13-3.
The second half allowed a lot of newer players to once again get extended playing time. The team increased the halftime lead through the rest of the game by playing tenacious defense and scoring opportunistic goals. Highlights included Shaneil Wynter's and Sydney Clarke's 100 yard rushes to score and Tatiyana Dunkers weaving through the defense to score her first lacrosse goal, followed by her scoring again less than 30 seconds later. Nine players tallied goals (almost certainly a Dublin School girls lacrosse single game record): Kate Barrett (2G, 1A); Sydney Clarke (1G); Stella Davis (1G, 1A); Tatiyana Dunkers (2G); Hope Fowler (3G, 1A); Sabrina Hayden (4G, 1A); Bette Imhoff (5G); Fiona Johnson (1G) and Shaneil Wynter (1G, 1A).
