Girls played Winchendon School on Friday afternoon. It was a game played in three acts.
Act 1. We scored early but allowed some egregious defensive lapses in our own zone. Of Winchendon's early scoring, all were easy goals from players left uncovered around the crease. Both teams traded goals and Winchendon assumed a 5-4 lead. The coaches called a time out to reemphasize defensive responsibilities and to raise our effort level.
Act 2. Coming out of the time out, Dublin raised its game in both ends of the field, going on an 11-1 run to put the game out of reach. The run was highlighted by goals from an assortment of players, a breakout game for Stella Davis and an end to end rush and score from defenseman and birthday girl Shaneil Wynter.
Act 3. Anticipating a game on Saturday, a number of less experienced players got extended playing time against the Winchendon starters. The play was relatively even with Winchendon scoring a final goal with .6 seconds left on the clock.
Scoring for Dublin: Stella Davis (5G, 1A); Clare Fowler (1G); Hope Fowler (1G); Sabrina Hayden (3G, 1A); Bette Imhoff (4G, 1A); Brianna Moore (1G); and Shaneil Wynter (1G, 1A).
