The girls lacrosse team lost a heartbreaker against Tilton School. In one way, the game showed the progress we have made as a program, as we lost to Tilton last year by a 15-3 score. That said, we held the lead or had a tie for most of the game. Dublin jumped out to a 5-2 lead, but Tilton replied with three quick goals at the end of the half to make it 5-5 at the break. In the second half, Dublin then built 7-5 and 9-7 leads, both of which Tilton erased. At 9-9, Tilton controlled the remaining chances and closed out the game.
The key difference in the game was the center draw which Tilton dominated through the last third of the game. Their ability to win at center allowed them multiple additional offensive chances and required Dublin to create a turnover or make a save to gain possession. They also won the ground ball battle which is frequently a key determiner of success in closely fought lacrosse games.
Hope Fowler had a big offensive day scoring 6 times. She was supported by Sabrina Hayden (2G) and Bette Imhoff (1G, 1A). Amani Natson had another big day in goal with 15 saves.
