The the 3D Design students spent the day at The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. Our goal was to seek inspiration from the various collections of pottery on display at the Museum. The collections are extensive, and we were able to see ancient vessels dating back to 1435 BC. The students were researching the different roles ceramics plays through out history in cultures around the world. From their research, they will chose a particular style, technique, or culture to serve as a main topic for a longer research project this term. We were even able to sneak in seeing some master works of art like Monet’s Water Lillies and Andy Warhol’s Jackie. We covered a lot of ground in just a few hours at the museum! It is great to see the inspiration from the museum already having an effect on their work in the studio.
