Dublin boys' Varsity basketball picked up a big win on the road on Friday, outpacing Putney 61-49 in the year's first meeting between these River Valley Athletic League rivals. The Wildcats started the game on a 12-4 run, getting steals out of their trapping zone defense and converting them into breakaway layups by Jaydon Belliveau-Ryan '20 (Peterborough, NH) and Fab Joseph '18 (Easton, PA). Putney held tough, however, and trailed by just five points at halftime. In the second half, Dublin protected and extended its lead on some hot shooting by Belliveau-Ryan, Will Campbell '18 (Milford, NH), and Nate Gryczka '18 (Keene, NH), who finished the game with 22, 16, and 9 points, respectively. Joseph added 6 points, and Harrison Atlas '18 (Houston, TX) scored his first bucket in a Dublin uniform.
The Wildcats (2-3, 1-0 RVAL) host Winchendon on Saturday at 4 pm.
