On Wednesday the Girls JV Basketball Team hosted the High Mowing School for a Monadnock Region match-up. It took both teams a little while to get their offenses warmed-up as the defensive efforts kept the scoring to a minimum. Dublin took a slight 10-9 advantage into the halftime break off a final second bucket from newcomer Nancy Rose Unser '18 (Northport, NY).
The second half was much more intense as each team traded baskets. In the final minutes both schools executed a full court press that made for some exciting defensive and offensive exchanges. With just 6 seconds left Dublin led 24-17 and dropped the press to watch the clock tick down. High Mowing took the ball up the court and released a shot from half court that dropped perfectly in at the buzzer. The crowd of Dublin and High Mowing fans alike exploded in amazement at a spectacular play.
Dublin (2-1) took the 24-20 win. Katia Dermott '17 (Lincoln, NE) led all scorers with 12 points, most of her baskets coming from her strong post play. She was also 50% from the free throw line.
Dublin is scheduled to host Berkshire Art & Technology on Saturday.
