On Saturday, December 10, Dublin returned to face Newman School in the consolation game, squeaking out a victory in the final seconds, 40-38. After a physically and emotionally taxing loss the night before, the Wildcats struggled offensively, shooting just 30% from the floor, but their defense was equally stingy, nabbing 18 steals, many of which turned into fast-break buckets. With the game tied 38-38, Belliveau-Ryan drove hard to the hoop and drew a foul with 0.8 seconds remaining. With the game on the line, he calmly drained two free throws, and Dublin had its first win of the year. Belliveau-Ryan led the team once again with 17 points and 7 steals. Co-captain Will Campbell '19 added 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, while holding Newman's standout center to 15 hard-earned points.
Dublin (1-3) plays its first River Valley Athletic League game on Friday, traveling to Putney, VT, to take on the Putney School at 4 pm. Dublin will play host to Winchendon on Saturday at 4 pm.
