One of the things that parents often ask teenagers is, “What did you do this weekend?” A common reply (if your teenager is like ours) might be, “I hung out with my friends….”
While that is a perfectly acceptable way of decompressing and blowing off steam after a busy week, it isn’t the end of the story. At Dublin, weekends are pretty busy. A range of activities and trips are offered so that “hanging out with my friends….” is far from the only activity that students engage in.
While no weekend is typical, a look at a recent weekend gives a sense of all that is going on at Dublin when the “academic week” ends.
Coffee House - Students performing off-campus at the Dublin Community Center.
Ping Pong Tournament - All weekend event culminating in the grand finale played during morning meeting the following week.
Mystery Trip - Students sign up for an off campus trip, not knowing where they are going. In this case they went to see a movie, “Doctor Strange”.
Work Gang - One third of the school is engaged on a rotating basis on service projects for the school and the wider community each Saturday morning.
Putnam Gallery Opening - A new show opened at the Putnam Gallery. The artist gave a talk to the school prior to the opening.
Athletic Contests and Rehearsals - Normal slate of games and arts rehearsals.
Cookie Baking at Mr. Brown’s House
Card Games in Spencer Student Center

Visit from Olympic Gold Medalist Tessa Gobo - Students met NH native at the Dublin Community Center.

Shopping Trips - to Keene and Peterborough.

A lot of students also use the weekend for catching up with school work and “hanging out with my friends….”
