The fall Nordic Ski Camp is designed to bring a non rushed, fun atmosphere of ski racing fundamentals and aerobic training to the Dublin School nordic ski team. This is open to all Nordic ski team members and is not mandatory. It will be held from November 18-20, 2016 at the Craftsbury Nordic Center in Vermont.
The Craftsbury Outdoor Center has over 85 kilometers (53 miles) of Nordic skiing trails. The center is also home to the Green Racing Project, an Olympic development team with both rowing and skiing components. Thanks to its beautiful Northeast Kingdom snow-belt location, Craftsbury is generally blessed with reliable snow to cover some of the nicest trails in New England. Snowmaking supplements natural snowfall.
This is our second year running a pre-season camp at Craftsbury. The camp is a ton of fun and is designed to get a jump start on the ski season. Dublin will have three or four coaches there and will be on snow depending upon availability. Last year, with one of the warmer winters in recent years, we mostly did dry-land training activities like running, hiking, strength training and roller skiing. Dublin students also took full advantage of the Concept 2 gym. We worked on Ski Erg technique and upper body strength. The professionals at Craftsbury even trained our kids to shoot biathlon rifles and we do a little biathlon demonstration--probably the highlight of last year's camp. The food is amazing and a good deal of team bonding takes place throughout the camp!
