Dublin's Sailors hosted the Brewster Academy team Wednesday 10/26. It was a gray late-fall day. Winds were strong and shifty but the real news was the afternoon air temperature was 37 degrees. Many of our guests did not bring sailing gloves which dampened their enthusiasm leading to only 8 of 12 planned races being sailed. Racing was A-B divisions but cold overwhelmed the Brewster B division inspiring the coaches to get creative: the final set was a pick-up 2-race series comprised of anyone who wanted to get in a boat: FIVE Dublin teams sailed with only three teams from our guests.
After the dock was cleaned up and the dry suits hung in the WBH or loaded in the visiting busses both teams walked to Lehmann for early dinner, during which the only rule was: no single-team tables. Coaches from both schools commented on how much fun a bunch of well-fed teens who share a common passion for sailing can have together! Awards for the first place boat team in each the 3 divisions was a pint each of Dublin's student-made maple syrup. Dublin will sail at Brewster Saturday afternoon November 12th.
