In their first game of the new year, Dublin Varsity Boys Basketball traveled to Vermont for a matchup with longtime RVAL rival Putney School.
The game was nip and tuck throughout the first half, with the visitors trailing 19-18 after sixteen minutes of play. Dublin's switch to a half-court trap turned the tide, however, as the visitors' defensive pressure broke the game wide open. Feisty trapping efforts by Casey Burgess '18, Danny Figueroa '16, and Seb McLinden '16 led to a number of steals and fast-break buckets, and the Wildcats found themselves with a 12-point cushion for much of the second half, winning by a final score of 50-34. Hunter Bachman '16 had game-highs in a number of categories, with 23 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots. McLinden added 10 points, Figueroa had 9 to go with 5 steals, and Jordan Ferreras '16 grabbed 11 rebounds.
Dublin (2-4, 2-0 RVAL) travels to Cushing next Wednesday.
