Boys Varsity basketball climbed back to the .500 mark on the season with a 50-37 win against Vermont Academy's Varsity B squad on Friday night. The Wildcats played their best defensive half of the season, opening the game with a 15-0 run and going into the locker room with a 25-9 lead. Vermont did not go quietly, however, getting hot from behind the arc and closing to within 3 points with 7:00 to go in the game. Dublin's defense held, however, and big buckets in the final minutes from Jordan Ferreras '16 and Will Campbell '19, and free throws from Seb McLinden '16, put the game out of reach. Hunter Bachman '16 iced the game with a breakaway dunk in the final seconds that brought the team to its feet. Bachman had his best all-around game of the season, with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 7 deflections, 6 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks, and just 1 turnover. McLinden added 13 points and 6 steals, and Danny Figueroa '16 dished out 5 assists to go with 3 steals.
Dublin (6-6, 5-0 RVAL) hosts Bradford Christian Academy at 2:30 on Saturday afternoon.
