The Girls’ Soccer team opened their 2015 season with a match against River Valley Athletic League foe Academy at Charlemont. In their last meeting in 2014 Charlemont edged the Wildcats in a game that saw two overtime periods and 20 penalty kicks before a winner was crowned. This year’s Dublin squad includes many returning faces from last season and they played today’s match with a chip on their shoulder and determination to establish a new order in the league. With help from new talent in Olivia O’Rourke ’19 (Sharon, NH) and Stella Davis ’18 (Dublin, NH) Dublin School was able to dominate possession and pace with continued offensive pressure throughout the game. The Lady Wildcats rode a 3-0 lead into halftime on a very hot and humid afternoon. While the game slowed in the second stanza, Dublin increased their passing and control and was able to keep their opponents from having any significant scoring chances. Davis was named “Woman of the Match” as she contributed to the victory with 2 goals and 1 assist.
Dublin (1-0, 1-0 RVAL) will host RVAL defending Champions Stoneleigh-Burnham on Saturday 9/19. The match is slated for a 2:30pm kick-off on Memorial Field.
