We had a great weekend in Craftsbury, Vermont racing on their 1 km manmade snow ski loop. George Henry, Ryan, Lilly and Calvin represented Dublin School very well, especially after so little time on snow. They were racing against ski academy kids who have been traveling on snow for over a month. The good news if that our dryland training approach paid off with some strong results.
George Henry and Ryan showed significant improvement over last year's results and finished near the top of New Hampshire skiers and prep school racers. They have been training hard in our endurance program at Dublin and with our new club Dublin XC, and their coach Kathy Maddock.
Lilly enjoyed her first race as a U16 athlete and finished in the top 12 for New England girls in both the sprint and the 5 km race. Calvin surprised everyone by finishing 21st in the spring race on Saturday, trailing only one U18 New England skier. It was fun to see him battling with two University of Vermont skiers in the semifinals.
Looks like we have snow on the horizon and good snowmaking conditions to bolster any of the natural stuff we receive. Out oner 30 athletes seem to be training hard over vacation. We are excited for 2016!!
