Mr. Dylan Pierpont’s Woodworking classes have been designing and creating cutting boards. Hope Fowler is finishing her work on a magnetic knife holder, and Chris Brodie has been perfecting a bowl crafted from an oak burl.
The class found this Black Birch burl (left) near the Nordic Trail. Pierpont estimates that the burl is worth thousands, and the class plans to use it for future projects. “The only way to get it out ,” says Pierpont, “is to hire a man with a Clydesdale Horse who will tow it away.” So that’s just what they will do.
