The whole Dublin Sailing Team raced in the Mystic Seaport Museum "Dyer Dhow Derby" Saturday October 17th. MSM's goal was to get as many as possible of their 50+ 9-foot-long Dyer Dhow sailboats - mostly used for sailing instruction classes - out racing. Our 20-student team helped. For Dublin sailors it was an opportunity to race single-handed boats and race on a course a far more crowded with competitors than is typically encountered in high school races. Winds were higher than forecast on the Mystic River, which proved a challenge to all. Irena even capsized, but once the boat was bailed she got right back in and kept sailing - go Irena! After racing the team had a few hours to tour the museum for a full competitive athletic event + historic visit + field trip + get off campus day. Mr and Ms Scalfano accompanied the team and took the photos.
