On Saturday I joined a couple of Work Gangs, as I try to do whenever I am on campus. Larry Ames and Maya were collecting honey from the bee hives, a group was finishing up the lean-to and out house, and another was chopping wood. Bill and Shelly Farrell were leading a group of kids who were moving cord wood from one end of Alumni Field to the other. After a couple of hours of work we were all getting a little tired when Bill wondered out loud whether the group could make one more trip with wood. While the rest of us stared down at our feet I heard a quiet voice say "we can do one more load." With that simple statement we all jumped to it and had a blast finishing up the last bit of work. Thank you Mekhi for your quiet leadership; it's what makes communities like this one run so well.
