College Counseling
True to Dublin School’s mission, the College Office strives to offer you an individualized college counseling experience. With support from parents/caregivers and the college counselor, we strive to have students develop as informed decision makers, set realistic goals, take responsibility for meeting deadlines, learn self-advocacy skills, and compose personal writing through reflection. Regular and honest communication between the College Office, parents/caregivers, and the student helps to create a positive process.
The Process
9th & 10th grade
11th Grade
11th grade: Advisors help students develop leadership through their campus involvements and select coursework that challenges them and deepens areas of interest. Students work with the college counselor starting in the beginning of the spring term to reflect on their long-term goals, create a college list, and plan out standardized testing. Juniors take the PSAT in the fall term and draft a college essay in a final unit of their English class during the spring term.
Fall 2022 Parent Meeting for 11th Grade
12th grade
12th grade: Advisors continue to give guidance around course selection and encourage seniors to find their unique leadership path within the community. The college counselor supports students in finalizing their college list, reviews applications and essays, and provides financial aid resources to families. College admission counselors visit Dublin’s campus throughout the fall to meet with prospective students. To complete the process, students are assisted with considering their admission offers and the school celebrates each student’s next step forward.

Mission
At Dublin School, we strive to awaken a curiosity for knowledge and a passion for learning. We instill the values of discipline and meaningful work that are necessary for the good of self and community. We respect the individual learning style and the potential each student brings to our School. With our guidance, Dublin students become people who seek truth and act with courage.
Dublin School Culture & Community
Located in rural southwestern New Hampshire, Dublin School is a deliberately small, nondenominational, independent college preparatory school for grades 9-12. Diversity is infused in all community experiences at Dublin School because of our size and student population. Dublin School students actively participate in all aspects of school life, as we believe that learning takes place both inside and outside of the classroom. Students and faculty work together to create a school culture that enables individuals to be their authentic self, encourages students to seek out new experiences, supports healthy risk-taking, promotes equity and inclusion, and creates time for play. Every academic day begins with Morning Meeting, which brings the entire community together for formal and spontaneous presentations and announcements, guest speakers, and Senior Presentations.
Students have daily work jobs and weekend Work Gang, small group projects such as trail maintenance, wood splitting or maple sugaring, to help maintain our physical campus and foster an ethic of meaningful work within our school. Students must engage in afternoon athletics or activities each trimester and join at least one competitive team each year. Additionally, more than one-third of our students elect to take part in our performing arts program, which includes dance, music, and theater. Students often elect to participate in clubs and organizations, such as Amnesty International, Outing Club, Student Government, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Students of Color Association, or the Astronomy Club. Dublin School students are active community members because they are provided rich opportunities that awaken new passions and bring our school’s mission to life. We help our students to grow physically, socially, morally, and intellectually for the betterment of self and community.
Academics
Our academic program combines traditional college preparatory curriculum with dynamic teaching including problem-based learning units, arts-threaded projects, Harkness method discussion courses, and Exeter’s math methodology. Students benefit from close relationships with teachers, ensuring that all students are challenged and supported. Small, student-centered classroom settings allow students to be fully involved in their education.
Dublin School’s diverse student body and curriculum adds to the richness of a student’s classroom experience by broadening perspectives and fostering connections in the global community. Course offerings include challenging AP courses, innovative semester electives, independent studies, one-on-one tutorials, and a two-week experiential learning J-Term, allowing students to develop their strengths and address weaknesses. In keeping with our mission, we help students become passionate learners who are personally interested in their academic experience. Students build their knowledge base and key academic skills of inquiry, problem solving, and communication as they apply their learning to the real world. Our graduates are ready for college work and are looking for academic challenge
Senior Project
Students may apply to engage in a year-long rigorous study centered on an essential question that is of personal interest. The course has both a scholarly and a creative/applied component and students are given college-level expectations of independence, time management, and advanced analytical and creative problem-solving. Students undertake academic research and complete scholarly writing exploring the field(s) at the intersection of their project and present their work at a spring school-wide exhibition.
