Boys Soccer

Home games for the boys' varsity soccer team are fun events, with the sidelines on Upper Field often filling with students, faculty, and parents. This highly supportive environment includes a large drum that several students will beat at various moments during the contests, as well as a little bit of World Cup flair in the form of a few vuvuzelas. Simply put, even if you're not on the team these are games you don't want to miss.

We take a lot of pride in our athletic facilities and Dublin's soccer fields—we have two beautifully maintained 110 x 65 yards playing areas—are among the best anywhere. On Upper Field especially the scene in autumn, with the surrounding woods ablaze in foliage color and views that include those of Dublin and nearby Mt. Monadnock, is quite stunning.

The team's schedule covers 16 to 18 regular season games. Headed up veteran coach, Brooks Johnson, our growing program is built around hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm for the sport. Success has followed. In 2008, for example, we had one of our finest seasons in some years, finishing 11-6 and qualifying for the New England Preparatory School Athletic Conference playoffs.

In recent years our opponents largely consisted of junior varsity opponents from bigger schools in the highly competitive Lakes Region League. Starting in the fall of 2011, however, we will be playing in the River Valley Athletic League. Our schedule will be made up of similar sized varsity clubs from all over New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont, including Putney, Eagle Hill, and White Oak, among others. More importantly, it's a move that will enhance the balance we try and keep between striving for wins and maintaining a focus on nurturing athletes to stay dedicated to important skills—sportsmanship, leadership, and a commitment to teamwork—they can use throughout their lives.
