Dear Skiing Friends,
We have put together a fun and informative plan for this Sunday at the Dublin School Nordic Center. While the snow has not cooperated we are going ahead with two different activities and your welcome to attend one or both.
At 1 pm at the Nordic Center we are thrilled to have expert coach Kathy Maddock lead all ages, and all abilities through a ski walking exercise on the Nordic Center's trails. Kathy is a high level masters racer, a coach for CSU which was the top club in New England last year, a former World Cup skier, the new coach of the new Dublin XC Club, and a fun person with whom to spend an hour and a half on our trails. Just bring a short pair of poles and some good exercise clothing.
Then at 3 pm in the Nordic Center's yurt, expert waxer and TOKO Ski Wax representative Rob Bradlee will lead us in a waxing clinic. Rob will take you through the basics of waxing, add some expert tips, and answer any questions you might have. Having attended one of these before I can tell you that they are invaluable.
Sunday's events are free to Dublin XC club members and $10 for non-members (the fee covers both events). We already have a great group of people signed up. You can register at http://dublinxc.com/events/club-event-race-wax-clinic/#em-booking
Other skiing news:
Our snowmaking system on our upper soccer field and alpine slope is up and running and now we just need some cold weather to make snow. We will let people know when the manmade loop will be open to club members or the general public.
We have built a new trail connecting our lower trail system to the trails Jim Rodrigues built on the Yankee property. A thank you to Jamie Trowbridge for his support in this effort. This should add close to three kilometers of beginner terrain.
Hope to see you this Sunday, Brad Bates
