Wed - 4/25/3 2007 Proctor @ Dublin - 2:30 PM
On Wednesday, the Wildcats faced off against a very skilled Proctor team despite the rain and hail that poured on Memorial Field. The first half the team was not able to contain Proctor’s offense and were down 6-0 going into halftime. During the first half, Proctor played excellent defense and their goalie played very well. While the second half was a different story for our defense, who only allowed 1 goal, our offense was shut down. The final score ended up 7-0.
A lot of credit goes to our defense who shrugged off a less than stellar first half performance and played shut down defense in the second half. Tom Fertsch made a number of very good saves. Again, Nate Worthen made plays all over the field. Charley Neisner and Cem played well in their defensive roles as well.
Going forward we need to continue to work on our game sense, our ability to dodge to the net, and our ball movement. Study the game. Ask the coaches questions. Learn the rules. This will translate to better play and less pour penalties. Also, have confidence that you can run past a defender. Use your quickness, change speeds, and accelerate past a defender. Finally, we need to move the ball better to keep the defense moving and to get them out of position. The ball moves faster than anyone can run. Pick up a ground ball GET IT OUT OF YOUR STICK IN TWO SECONDS!!!
Luckily we can quickly put this loss behind us as we are set to face Brewster on Friday and Holderness on Saturday. These will be strong teams and we need to make sure we bring our A game.
Let’s GO DUBLIN!
Best,
John
