5th Annual Erg-a-thon

The Dublin School rowing team kicked off its regular season training with its first big spring event, the 5th Annual Erg-a-thon. As it’s happened in the past, the team gets together for about 4-5 hours of continuous rowing in an attempt to reach a total meter goal. Previous years’ erg-a-thons have yielded around 300 to 350km (or 186 to 217 miles). With this being our 5th running of the event and the team being far more fit than it has in the past, we wanted this year’s goal to go beyond what had ever been attempted. Each of the 30 student-athletes on the team would be allotted eight 10-minute pieces to row, with the goal of racking up as many meters as they could per individual set. The ultimate team goal this year: 450,000 meters!
